The Snow Leopard
What is this animals habitat? This animals habitat is cold, high, and snowy mountains
Where is this animal located? This animal is located in China, Nepal, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, Bhutan, and Russia
Five interesting facts about Snow Leopards Five interesting facts about these leopards is that: 1. They can leap six times their body length. 2. They can scale mountain slopes with ease. 3. Their long tails help them with agility and balance. 4. They wrap their tail around them to keep warm. 5. Snow Leopards paws are very big in order for them to act as snowshoes so they don’t sink in to the snow.
Why has this animal become endangered This animal has become endangered because of retaliation killings, and the loss of food sources. The retaliation killings happen when Snow Leopards eat farmers livestock because the animals have either been captured for their livestock the animals come and eat them the farmers shoot the animals out of revenge. Another reason they are dieing is that hunters are hunting them for their pelts and the hunters are killing their food (sheep, hares, and some types of birds) thus a result of them being endangered. There are now only an estimated 3500 to 7000 in the wild (the big margin of numbers is because of the shy nature of these animals)
What can humans do to help these animals? . Give three reasons Humans can help these animals by: 1. Giving donations or adopting (symbolically) to help build habitat and refuges for these animals. 2. By making public awareness to get donations for Snow Leopards. 3. Fundraise this way not only will your friends and family know about it but so will random strangers and you will get more money to give to them e. g. ; do a bake sale or have a garage sale to help Snow Leopards.
