Website Information If you don’t use a preapproved website, then you need to check to make sure that the website you find is accurate and appropriate. n n n n When you find a website that you think will give you the information you want, check out the site. Who is the author? Is this person an expert? What is the copyright date? When was the site last updated? Can you understand the information presented? Does the website cover the topic? Why was the website created? Searching Google n n n Do not ask a question. Use quotation marks “…” around phrases. For example if I search Ancient Greece, I get 5, 720, 000 hits. But if I type “Ancient Greece, ” I get 4, 800, 000 hits.

Domains or. com n n n n Try a domain other than. com = commercial. edu = educational. gov = government. mil = U. S. military. museum = museum. org = organization Now if in the search box, I type “Ancient Greece” site: edu, I get 92, 200 hits.

Search Terms = Beads + = Each word or phrase you type in the search box is like adding one more bead to a string. The goal is to get the information that you are looking for with as few hits as possible.
