BEFORE WE GO ON… • Slavery is bad. All of slavery is bad. No one should ever be a slave. It’s inhumane and terrible. • I am not saying that slavery is good. However, certain forms of slavery are better than other forms of slavery. • The Americas had the worst slavery.
CHATTEL SLAVERY (the worst) • Chattel = personal property – Think “cattle” • Taking one group of people from their homeland to another place • TERRIBLE AND AWFUL • Zero rights, lots of abuse • Usually ‘others’ – different races or religions
