The Sixth Sense – opening scene By Gaby and Hannah
Production Design Costume: The costume is rather casual, we know that the film is based within the 21 st Century rather then a different Era. Sets: In the opening scene, there are two main sets. The living room, and the bedroom. In the living room we mainly only see the sofa, and the bedroom we see a bed. Props: For the props we see an award showing that one of the characters must have done something important, although when we get to the bedroom scene, we see a side table.
Colour and lighting. The lighting in the first few scenes are rather dark, although in the living room it gives a warm and comfortable feeling because of the effect the candles are giving. Although, when it gets to the bedroom scene, the candles are gone and it becomes duller, giving an indication that something bad is going to happen. Later on in the opening scene, when it states ‘Next Fall’ we only see the colour of red, which indicates death.
Actor’s performance and movement. The actor’s performances are rather good, when they are looking at the window their body language is different, more rigid and less relaxed, which also gives the audience an indication that something bad will happen. When it comes to the patient, we can tell that he has a mental problem by the way his body language is more hunched and he is fiddling with his thumbs, which could be a nervous twitch. The boy we see later on, he comes out quite slowly almost hesitant, the audience can tell that something is wrong because he is running and the extras are walking, indicating that he could be scared.
