THE SHEPHERD’S TREASURE 1. The shepherd hadn’t been to school because ii. there were very few schools in those days. 2. Who visited shepherd one day, and why? Ans. The king visited shepherd one day. As the shepherd became very famous for his advise, wisdom and friendly nature the king wished to meet him. 3. Why did the other governors grow jealous of the shepherd? Ans. Although the shepherd rose to power and dignity, he remained as humble as ever. People loved and honored him for his wisdom, sympathy, goodness and his fame as a fair wise governor soon spread throughout the country. So the other governors grew jealous of the shepherd. 4. Why as the new governor called to the palace? Ans. The other jealous governors said to the king about dishonesty of the new governor towards his work. So to question him, the king has called him to the palace. 5. Why was everyone delighted to see the iron chest on the camel’s back? Ans. The governors had warned the king that shepherd as dishonest and stored all the
treasures that he collected in the iron chest. They were conceived that, now he had brought iron chest with him. It would be opened and his honesty would be revealed to the king. 6. i. What did the iron chest contain? Ans. The iron chest contained an old blanket. ii. Why did the shepherd always carry it? Ans. Because it was the oldest friend of him and it can protect him in every condition or situation. iii. Is it an example of the shepherd’s humility or wisdom or both? Ans. Both it is. Because he said to the king that he may remove shepherd from his position but an old blanket will remain his best friend forever. 7. How did the king reward the new governor? Ans. The king made him the governor of the much bigger district that very day.
