Today we will… • Understand the events of the Ruhr Crisis • Identify the problems that the German reaction to the Ruhr Crisis caused

 • As we know, Germany had to pay a huge amount of reparations

• As we know, Germany had to pay a huge amount of reparations to The Allies • The new Weimar Government had been experiencing problems such as The Spartacist Revolt • They also found it very difficult to keep up their reparations

 • The Weimar Government did not keep up its payments to France and

• The Weimar Government did not keep up its payments to France and Belgium • These countries lost patience and marched into the Ruhr region of Germany in 1923 • This was the most industrialised part of Germany (lots of coal, metal etc)

 • France and Belguim intended to take coal and goods onto trains and

The Weimar Government continued to pay those who weren’t working. They simply printed more money very quickly. This meant that money became worth very little
