Who Runs the Foundation? • While Rotary International is governed by a Board of Directors, the global The Rotary Foundation is governed by a separate Board of Trustees - Set objectives and policies - Oversee investment strategies and review the performance (active investment management by professional investment firms)
Who Runs the Foundation? • Rotary Districts provide Local Administration – Each district has a Foundation Committee and a District Rotary Foundation Chair (DRFC) that: • Decides the use of the district’s SHARE – District Designated Funds (DDF) • Determines the distribution of funds for District Simplified Grants (DSGs) • Keeps records on Foundation grants and makes certain the required final reports are submitted • Is responsible for Fund Development on behalf of our Foundation within the district
Who Runs the Foundation? • The Foundation Staff is responsible for global administration – Processing grant applications – Program award approvals – Requiring reporting & accountability for all grants and programs of the Foundation – Fund development strategies and assistance – Providing resource materials – Donor recognition

(as opposed to unrestricted Annual Program Fund contributions) • These are funds that have donor-imposed restrictions on their use. – Some are Temporarily Restricted • These restrictions may expire after a given time or when the program’s goals or needs have been met – Others are Permanently Restricted • These assets are donated with the stipulation they must be used for a specific program, project or fund
