Family Medicine Clerkship • Texas Tech Family Medicine Clinic w/ Faculty, PGY 2 & PGY 3 • Community Faculty • Weekly Didactics • Longitudinal Selective in Family Medicine • Self-Directed Learning
– HRSA – Health Resources and Services Administration http: //www. hrsa. gov/ • Primary Federal agency for improving access to health care services for people who are uninsured, isolated or medically vulnerable • Works to strengthen the health care workforce, build healthy communities, and improve health equity. HRSA’s grantees provide health care to uninsured people, people living with HIV/AIDS, and pregnant women, mothers, and children. • Supports the training of health professionals, the distribution of providers to areas where they are needed most, and improvements in health care delivery.
HRSA Pre-Doctoral Grant in Primary Care at TTUHSC – PLFSOM Dept. of Family Medicine
OBJECTIVES Objective 1 Expand, implement and evaluate a new required 6 week FM clerkship in a new medical school which teaches the principles of family medicine in the context of our underserved, predominantly Hispanic Border Community. • 1 a Develop seven FM Longitudinal Selectives • 1 b Develop 12 interactive web cases on common FM topics
OBJECTIVES Objective 2 Identify, recruit and train 22 community faculty and enhance teaching skills of current campus faculty. Objective 3 Develop, implement and evaluate a Family Medicine department-led Service Learning Track, and four new Electives for the fourth year medical school that are tailored to an underserved, vulnerable, and predominantly Hispanic US/Mexico border populations.
GRANT ACTIVITIES • Develop, Implement, and Evaluate 7 Longitudinal Selectives: 1. Native American Medicine 2. Integrative Medicine on the Border 3. Pharmacotherapeutics in Primary Care 4. HIV Medicine 5. Patient Education 6. Occupational Medicine 7. Telemedicine Year 1 Year 2 Year 3

Project and Community Clerkship Coordinator Role • “Work with the PD and Associate PD to achieve overall objectives of the project, run and enter reports, maintain databases, set up meetings and ensure overall smooth running of the project and assist with preparation for dissemination of project. ” • “Identify, recruit and train community faculty, monitor clinical sites and train staff at those sites. ”
