THEME Yahweh is still faithful and remains with His people even though they battle with unbelief, distrust and disobedience. Their clash with the pagan nations and sins of idolatry result in their failure to enter the Promised Land.

OPTIMISM & HOPE Num 6: 22 -27 The LORD spoke to Moses, saying, "Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, Thus you shall bless the people of Israel: you shall say to them, The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace. "So shall they put my name upon the people of Israel, and I will bless them. "

OPTIMISM & HOPE Num 9: 15 -18 On the day that the tabernacle was set up, the cloud covered the tabernacle, the tent of the testimony. And at evening it was over the tabernacle like the appearance of fire until morning. So it was always: the cloud covered it by day and the appearance of fire by night. If the LORD delights in us, he will bring us into this land give it to us, a land that flows with milk and honey. Only do not rebel against the LORD. WARNING!!! Heb 3: 12 -4: 2 Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. For there is no food and no water, and we loathe this worthless food. ” • v. 6 Then the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people, so that many people of Israel died. • v. 7 And the people came to Moses and said, "We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD and against you. Pray to the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us. " So Moses prayed for the people.

BRONZE SERPENT Num 21: 8 -9 And the LORD said to Moses, "Make a fiery serpent and set it on a pole, and everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live. " So Moses made a bronze serpent and set it on a pole. And if a serpent bit anyone, he would look at the bronze serpent and live.

BRONZE SERPENT John 12: 32 -33 “And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself. ” He said this to show by what kind of death he was going to die.

BRONZE SERPENT Gal 3: 13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree. ”

THE HOLY SPIRIT • Num 11: 16 -17 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Gather for me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people and officers over them, and bring them to the tent of meeting, and let them take their stand there with you. And I will come down and talk with you there. And I will take some of the Spirit that is on you and put it on them, and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, so that you may not bear it yourself alone. • Num 11: 25 Then the LORD came down in the cloud and spoke to him, and took some of the Spirit that was on him and put it on the seventy elders. And as soon as the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied. But they did not continue doing it.

THE HOLY SPIRIT • Num 11: 29 -30 “Would that all the LORD's people were prophets, that the LORD would put his Spirit on them!” And Moses and the elders of Israel returned to the camp. • Luke 4: 14 -18 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and a report about him went out through all the surrounding country. And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all. And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. And as was his custom, he went to the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and he stood up to read. And the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me…”

THE HOLY SPIRIT Eph 4: 29 -32 Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

APPLICATION • Am I walking in the Spirit? • Am I grateful or a grumbler? • Do I believe that God will supply all my needs (Phil 4: 19)? • Do I trust the Word of God?
