The Road Less Traveled By 1 Corinthians 10
The Road Less Traveled By
1 Corinthians 10: 13 (NLT) 13 The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.
When the burn of temptation comes, there are two choices: Follow the old path of habitual sin Step Into God’s presence
In His presence is fullness of joy Psalms 16: 11 (NKJV) 11 You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
How do we find the path? First, acknowledge that you have sinned 1 John 1: 8 -10 (NKJV) 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
Second, go back up the road and find where the fork in the road was and place a mental marker there. What did it look like there? Where were your emotions at? What time of day was it? What is your habit at that point?
Third, get a vision of what a different path would look like Matthew 7: 13 -14 (NIV) 13 "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
Seek the Lord while He may be found Isaiah 55: 6 (NIV) 6 Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near.
Fourth, enjoy the benefits: This is where we add to our faith goodness 2 Peter 1: 5 -7 (NIV) 5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to selfcontrol, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.
As we live in communion with God we will obey His commands Our heart (spirit) desire will become stronger than our flesh desire
His greatest command is to love. Love God Love People
1 John 4: 10 -12 (NIV) 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
Fear is erased 1 John 4: 18 (NIV) 18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
When we genuinely love people, our world is improved. People like us more They get free from their insecurities that drive selfishness They become who God intended them to be
