EDWARD VI AND MARY I Ø On Henry’s death in 1547, his son, Edward became, at 9 -year-old, the king as Edward VI Ø His uncle, Edward Seymour, became Lord Protector Ø When his half sister and wife to the king of Spain Philp II, became queen as Mary I Ø Mary earned the nickname “Bloody Mary”
Elizabeth I Ø Elizabeth I succeded her sister Mary in 1558 and became England’s most popular ruler Ø Elizabeth was well educated and culturated and her court was more brilliant than her father Ø The Spanish Armada was defeated by the weather and the superior design of the English ships
