Puck through History Puck is not actually his name in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, it is actually Robin Goodfellow. In other cultures (Ireland), the character known as Phouka, in their literature was known for his shape-shifting in order to make mischief. The Welsh version of this character (Pwca) was known to lead travellers into the dark and then blow it out when they were close to the edge of a cliff.
