• Research • Brainstorm • Pitch Prelim Idea The preliminary stage is the first stage in preproduction. This is the researching and brainstorming phase of pre-production; we use the preliminary stage to get a base idea of the game we are making, get ideas for the world and story of the game and weather the game is going to be linear or open world, usually we brainstorm using a mind map or a flowchart. We also use this stage so we can pitch the idea to a developer and get funding to make the game.

From this we can develop a story board to visualize the important parts of the story we want in the game, also we can start to block out the game from here or make an animatic both can be done with stock assets to help guide the people who will be modelling or animating the game. Because of this, it guides the direction of the game and plans out how the game should look or give an idea of how the game should look.

• Asset List • Timing • Budget Production Schedule You set up a production schedule to set up a timeline of how the game will be made. This includes making things like an asset list and planning job tasks so you can work out exactly how long your product should make. This is where you assign tasks around their importance. From this you can work out approximate budgeting to see what you can afford to make/how much you'd need to make your product and/or cut things that don’t fit. This is important because it helps solidify your product. Working these things out gives you a solid plan and direction; it makes sure you're doing what you need and when and that you have enough money to do so. Of course it's something that can be reworked further down the line, but having it initially gives you something to go off. Without it production would be a mess, planning schedule and budget gives you a good foundation to start with.

QA Testing Game testing is a software testing process for quality control over the video game, once a playable demo of the game has been created there are game testers who test the game and check for any game defects in the game like bugs. After testing the game the problems would be reported back to the game developer and then he would fix these problems.
