“The problem with Plastic” student presentation
The task • Working in groups of 5 or 6, you have to produce a 3 minute video presentation that raises awareness about how plastic is polluting our ocean environment and what steps we can take to reduce the impacts of the pollution. • Your presentation will be viewed and assessed by other students and the teachers during the residential week in Rayong next term. • Your video clip must be educational and interesting.
Important details • Video Title: The problem with plastic • Video Description: the video clip should designed allow the teachers and students the opportunity to learn about the harms of plastic pollution and provide easy steps, which will allow teachers, students and their families to learn easy ways to start being the solution to the issue of plastic pollution.
What can the video include? • • • The form of your video? Animation Slides of photos and music Role play scenes/drama/story Lectures Musical (song/poem)
Stages to follow • Research on plastic pollution • Research on how plastic pollution can be reduced. • Plan how you will present your video clip ie. the form it will take (animation? song and dance? poem read aloud? Interviews (with students, teachers, parents)? lecture? Slides of photographs & music? a combination of all of these) • Where will you film the presentation (in school? outside school? )
Roles for filming • FILM DIRECTOR (person taking overall control) • VIDEO EDITOR • RESEARCHERS (don’t have to be in video) • DRAMA QUEENS/KINGS (the actors/animators!) • PROPS AND LOCATION MANAGER
Your video will be assessed according to…… • How well you get ‘the message’ across… • Interest/entertainment value…. • Quality of video (does it make sense? is it put together well? Is the sound quality good? )….
