The Prince of Peace Isaiah 9: 6 -7

I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day I heard the bells on Christmas Day Their old, familiar carols play, And wild and sweet The words repeat Of peace on earth, good-will to men!

I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day And in despair I bowed my head; “There is no peace on earth, ” I said; “For hate is strong And mocks the song Of peace on earth, good-will to men!”

I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day Then pealed the bells more loud and deep: “God is not dead, nor doth He sleep; The Wrong shall fail, The Right prevail, With peace on earth, good-will to men. ”

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end. . . Isaiah 9: 6– 7

The latter glory of this house shall be greater than the former, says the Lord of hosts. And in this place I will give peace, declares the Lord of hosts. Haggai 2: 9

The Nature of Peace • God is the “God of Peace” • “The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet …” (Romans 16: 20) • “… the God of peace will be with you. ” (Philippians 4: 9) • “Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely. . . ” (1 Thessalonians 5: 23) • “Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus …”

The Nature of Peace • God is the “God of Peace” • Jesus himself is our peace • “For he himself is our peace …” (Ephesians 2: 14)

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. Romans 15: 13
