The Cafeteria College Great idea for getting students into college (starting as far back as 1947 expansion of community college systems) Hasn’t worked so well for getting students to completion Lots of initiatives to try to fix the problem (i. e. The Guided Pathways Model Guide students through their college career Go beyond freshman learning communities Go beyond specific curricular reforms Take a wholistic view of the college experience, especially for first gen students Create a road map with signposts along the way to help students know if they are on track and making progress Campus wide initiative – this is not just for faculty, nor is this just for support staff to work on 4
