Fall Sports 2020 & Covid 19 During this very difficult time of Covid 19 and it’s effect on academics and athletics at the high school and middle school levels, Kent City Schools will move forward very cautiously with athletics at all levels. Our number one goal will always be the safety and well being of our athletes, coaches and parents. We are following very specific guidelines set forth by the Governor’s office, along with state and local health departments. As we have discovered during this pandemic, information changes very rapidly. Kent City Schools, along with the Roosevelt and Stanton Athletic Departments ask for your patience moving forward. We will continue to do our very best to keep coaches, athletes and parents informed along the way as we try to navigate down this difficult road. The following information is provide as a resource for the 2020 fall sport season.

Basic OHSAA Rules & Regulations
• General OHSAA Eligibility Standards • � If this is your first season of athletic participation (no previous sport(s) played) at Roosevelt HS and you did not attend Roosevelt or Stanton last year, you must see Mr. Pfaff in the athletic office ASAP. � Academic Eligibility – Due to early release from school in March of 2020 and total distance learning by school districts in Ohio, the OHSAA has decided to grant full academic eligibility to all athletes for the 2020 fall sport season.
• OHSAA Transfer Standards • � If you have transferred to Roosevelt, you must ensure all required paperwork has been submitted to the OHSAA AND the state office has granted approval for eligibility. Please follow up in the athletic office. � Immediate eligibility will be granted only if one of the exceptions to the OHSAA transfer regulation has been met. � OHSAA 19 -20) Transfer Bylaw – 50% Rule (Change in

• Covid 19 • Kent City Schools is taking a very serious approach to the guidelines for Covid 19. Below are links for additional up to date information on Covid 19 and it’s effect on Ohio and more specifically athletics in the state. � Ohio Department of Health � Resources � OHSAA for Families & Individuals
• Your Health & Safety • � Before the season’s first official practice, you must have had a physical examination within the past year AND an examination clearance, physical form must be on file at the school. � In addition, you will not be eligible unless students and parents have electronically signed the required athletic forms along with an updated EMA on Final. Forms.
• Concussions • � It is EXTREMELY important for everyone involved in school sports to recognize the potential dangers associated with concussions and review their responsibilities in protecting student-athletes. � Concussions are NOT just a problem in football. . . concussions can happen in just about any sport! � In Ohio, any athlete who exhibits signs, symptoms, or behaviors consistent with a concussion. . . such as loss of consciousness, headache, dizziness, confusion or balance problems. . . shall be IMMEDIATELY removed from the contest or practice and shall not return to play that same day.
• Concussions continued • � The OHSAA & Roosevelt’s medical team have very strict concussion management protocol and all athletes, parents and coaches are required to adhere to it. � In addition, athletes and parents must review and electronically sign on Final. Forms the Ohio Department of Health’s “Concussion Information Sheet” prior to participation EACH SEASON. � Please check with our medical team if you have any questions or concerns pertaining to our concussion protocol.

Final. Forms
• Purpose of Final. Forms • � � � A centralized database for student forms, district wide, K-12 and more specifically for athletics 7– 12. Drastically reducing district paper use and cost. The ability for parents, students and coaches to update and save information annually. Avoiding repetitive completion of required forms. Email notification of non-compliance of required information. Multiple tools available for coaches and administrators for team management, such as attendance, eligibility, banquet information, inventory, etc.
• Final. Forms • � � � We are entering our 3 rd year using Final. Forms as a district after a very successful opening 2018 -2019 school year. Final. Forms is not an option. EVERYONE must have a FF account and file forms electronically. (Physical form is the only exception). ACCURATE EMAIL ADDRESSES ARE A MUST! Parents and students must create accounts that are linked. Parents AND athletes must sign all required forms. Updated physical forms must continue to be turned in to athletic department personnel. Expiration dates will be monitored and email notifications will be sent out via Final. Forms as expiration dates approach.
