The needs of organisms are related to the needs of cells • Each organism

The needs of organisms are related to the needs of cells • Each organism needs oxygen, energy, and building materials for survive • Each organisms structure is related to its function • Your cells need to be healthy to perform their function • If the ocean animals don’t get their proper needs the cells wont be able to perform their function • For example, the Hammerhead Shark needs a lot of building materials and energy because of all the swimming and fast movement the shark makes everyday. http: //animals. nationalgeographic. com/animals/fish/hammerhead-shark. html

 • With good nutrition we age properly and longer • When your older

• With good nutrition we age properly and longer • When your older you need less energy because you are less active • When you are younger you need more energy because you are more active • When you are older you need more building materials to repair aging body • growing (infant and teen) • For example, a new born and baby Angelfish needs a lot of energy and building materials. • For example, if the Giant Pacific Octopus is of old age and rips a tentacle if will need a lot more building materials to be able to repair. http: //www. aqua-fish. net/imgs/fish/angelfish http: //www. seattleseafoods. com/graphics/u -4 -link. jpg pload/docs/octopus. jpg

Food is a source of energy and building materials for organisms • The process

Food is a source of energy and building materials for organisms • The process is sun-plant-animal • The food consists of energy and building materials • The sun is the main source of energy • For example, the sun gives energy to plankton, then animals such as lobster eats the plankton. Then the energy and building materials go from the plankton to the lobster

 • Plants use the process of photosynthesis to get energy and building materials

• Plants use the process of photosynthesis to get energy and building materials for all living things • to carry out this process a plant needs water, sunlight, and carbon dioxide • Plants make their own food • This process of photosynthesis consists of herbivores( who eat plants only), Omnivores( who eat plants and animals), carnivores( eat only plants), producers ( plants), and consumers ( animals) • Plants are the producers • Animals are the consumer

The energy and building materials pass from one living thing to the next •

The energy and building materials pass from one living thing to the next • food web- shows all the different things an animal(s) eats • arrows point in the direction energy and building materials are going • It always starts with the sun • higher you are on the food we the less energy and building materials you get because where you get it from is already using it.
