Jesus Was Aware of His Future A. He knew of the Prophecies. Isaiah 53 Psalm 22 B. He mentioned His death. John 12: 1 -7, 27 -33 John 3: 13 -15
Jesus Understood the Necessity of His Death A. He knew He must die to save man. John 12: 24 He knew the condition of man (Rom. 3: 23). Heb. 9: 22; 10: 1 -4, 11 -14 B. He knew man needed a new law. Hebrews 8: 7 -13 Old covenant done away with. Col. 2: 13 -14; Eph. 2: 14 -16
Jesus Was Obedient A. This was not forced upon Him. Acts 2: 22 -24 God's plan for us. (1 Jn. 4: 7 -10; 1 Pet. 1: 18 -21) Jesus had a choice. (Matt. 26: 52 -54) He chose obedience. (Jn. 10: 17 -18)
Jesus Was Obedient B. He submitted to His father's will. Matthew 26: 36 -39 Hebrews 5: 5 -11 Romans 5: 18 -19 C. He was obedient to death. Philippians 2: 5 -11
Like Jesus, We Should be Obedient A. We are commanded to obey. 1 John 5: 3 -4 Eph. 2: 8 -10 B. We have a promise. James 1: 12 To those who love Him. To those who keep His commandments. 1 Cor. 9: 24 -27
Like Jesus, We Should be Obedient C. The inheritance is predestined to those who obey. Eph. 1: 3 -6; 11 -12
Conclusion Christ is our example. We are to be like Him. He humbled Himself and submitted to His Father's will. We should also obey God's will. Christ was obedient to death. (Phil. 2: 8) We must be prepared to do the same. (Rev. 2: 10) Are you an obedient child of God?
