The Night of Prayer 19 Ramadān 1439 – Sunday June 3, 2018

The Month of Ramadān • In this special month, Allāh (swt) has placed so many great favours! • It is a month like no other month. Why? • The Holy Qur’an was revealed • In some Hadith it is said that the other holy books were also revealed in this month

The Night of Power • Among the nights of the Month of Ramadān, there is one very special night • The night is better than ______ months! • Do you know how many years that is? ?

Preparing for Laylatul Qadr • In preparing for this special night there a few things we should all try to do: • • • Ghusl Be in Wudu Remember Allāh (swt) more and talk less of worldly things Pray for the Imām of our time (may he come quickly!) Be prepared for the A’amāl

The Death of Imam ‘Ali (a) • The 19 th Night of Ramadān is considered one of the special nights of power, the nights of Laylatul Qadr. • However, it is also a very sad day for us, as it is the night in which Imam ‘Ali (a) was struck by ibn Muljim • It is a day when the world is grieving for the death of the Imam is very near.

The Morning of the 19 th of Ramadān On the morning of the 19 th of Ramadān 40 AH, Imām ‘Ali (a) went towards Masjid-e-Kufā for Fajr prayers. Whilst he was in Sajdah of the first Rak’ah he was struck on the head with a poisonous sword by ibn Muljim. Imam was taken home by his sons where was in pain for two days. He passed away on the 21 st of Ramadān

1 A’amāl for Laylatul Qadr • Two Rakā’at prayer • In each prayer recite Sura al-Hamd and then Sura al-Ikhlas 7 times. • After the prayer we recite 70 x: ﺍﻟ ﻭ ﺇ I seek forgiveness of Allāh and I turn (repentant) to Him.

2 • Let us open our Qur’an and recite: ﺍﻟ ﻣ ﺍﻟ ﻡ ﺍﻟ In the Name of Allah, the most Kind, the most Merciful

ﺍﻟ ﻟﻰ آ Allah bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad.

ﺗﺍ ﺍﻟ O Allah, I ask You, for the sake of Your revealed Book

ﺍ ﺍﺍ And what is in it, and in it is Your greatest name

ﺍﻯ ﺍ ﺍﺝ ﻯ And (all) Your beautiful names and what is feared and hoped for

ﺍ ﺍﻟ ﺍ Make me amongst those whom You have saved from the fire. (ask for your Hajat)

3 • Place the Quran on your head and say: ﺍ ﺍآ ﺍﻟ O Allah, for the sake of this Quran

ﻩ For the sake of the one You sent with it

For the sake of every believer You have praised in it

And for the sake of Your right over them

ﺍ For none is more aware of Your right over them than Yourself

• Repeat each of the following ten times: ، ﺍ ﺍﻟ For Your sake, O Allah

، For the sake of Muhammad (s)

، For the sake of Ali (a)

، ﺍ For the sake of Fatima (a)

، ﺍﻟ For the sake of Hasan (a)

، ﺍﻟ For the sake of Husayn (a)

، ﺍﻟ For the sake of ‘Ali son of Husayn (a)

، For the sake of Muhammad son of ‘Ali (a)

، For the sake of Ja’far son of Muhammad (a)

، ﻭﻯ For the sake of Musa son of Ja’far (a)

، ﻭﻯ For the sake of ‘Ali son of Musa (a)

، For the sake of Muhammad son of ‘Ali (a)

، For the sake of ‘Ali son of Muhammad (a)

، ﺍﻟ For the sake of Hasan son of ‘Ali (a)

، ﺍﻟ For the sake of Al-Hujjah, the Proof (a)

4 • Let us recite the following Du’a together: ﺍﻟ ﻣ ﺍﻟ ﻡ ﺍﻟ In the Name of Allah, the most Kind, the most Merciful

ﺍﻟ ﻟﻰ آ Allah bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad.

ﻱ ﺍ ﺩ ﺍﺭ ﺍﻟ O Allah, I am, on this night, a very humble servant of Yours

ﻻﺍﻱﻋﻻ I have no control over gains and losses for myself

ﻻﺍﺍﻭ Nor can I avert any evil from it

ﺍﺫ ﻯ ﻱ I bear witness to that over myself

ﻱ ﻳﻱ ﺍ I acknowledge to You my weakness and my lack of means.

ﻯ آ So bless Muhammad and his family

ﺍﻱﺍﻱ And fulfil for me what You have promised me

ﻳ ٱﻳ ٱﺍ And to all the believers, men and women

ٱ ﻱﻩ ٱﻠ The promise of forgiveness on this night

ﺍ ﺍ آﻱ And complete for me what You have given me

ﻱ ٱﺳﻳ ٱﻳ Surely I am Your servant, poor, humble

ٱﻠ ﻳ ٱﻳ ٱﻳ Weak, needy and disgraced

ﺍﻟ ﻻ ﻱ ﺍﻳ ﻳﺍ ﺍﻱ O Allah, do not make me forgetful of Your remembrance in what You have entrusted me

ﻻ ﺍﻻ ﻹﺍ ﻳﺍ ﺍﻱ Nor heedless of Your favours in what You have given me

ﻻ آﺳ ﺍ ﺍ ﻱ Nor despairing of Your answer even if it was delayed for me.

ﻱ ﺍﺍ ﺍ (let this be on all occasions) in happiness or sorrow

ﺍ ﺍﺍ In difficulty or ease

ﺍﺍﺍﻻ In health or sickness

ﺍ ﺍﺍ In misfortunes or blessings

ﻳ ٱﻠ ﺍ Surely You listen to the Du’as (supplications)

5 • Let us recite the following Du’a together: ﺍﻟ ﻣ ﺍﻟ ﻡ ﺍﻟ In the Name of Allah, the most Kind, the most Merciful

ﺍﻟ ﻟﻰ آ Allah bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad.

، ﺍ ﺍ ﺍﻱ ﺍ O He who existed before everything else

، ﺍ ﺍ ﺍﻱ ﺍ O He who existed before everything else

، Then created everything

، ﻯﻯ Then He will remain while everything else perishes

، ﺍ ﺍ ﺍﻱ O He who has non similar to Him

، ﺍ ﺍ ﺍﻱ ﻱ ﺍﻟﺍﺍ ﺍﻟﻯ O He who there is none in the elevated heavens

، ﻻ ﻱ ﺍﻷﻳ ﺍﻟﻯ Nor in the deep earth

ﻻﻻﻻ ، ﺇﻟ Nor above them nor below them nor between them, a God who is worshipped besides Him

، ﺍﻟ ﺩ ﻻ ﻯ ﻯ ﺇﺍ ﺇﻻ For You is praise, a praise which cannot be comprehended except by You

ﻯآ Bless Muhammad the family of Muhammad

. ﻻ ﻻ ﻯ ﻯ ﺇﺍﺍ ﺇﻻ Blessings which none can comprehend except You

6 • This next Du’a is so powerful – it is a Du’a which can change our lives. ﺍﻟ ﻣ ﺍﻟ ﻡ ﺍﻟ In the Name of Allah, the most Kind, the most Merciful

ﺍﻟ ﻟﻰ آ Allah bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad.

ﺍﻟ ﺇ ﻱ ﻱ ﺍ ﻱ O Allah, I ask You about that which You decree and determine

ﻟـ ﺍ ـﺍ O Allah, let it be that when You decree and determine

، ﺍﻻ ﺍﻭ From the matters which are certain

ـﺍ ﺍﻻ ﺍﻟ That when You distinguish in the matters which are wise

، ﻱ ﺍ On the night of Qadr

، ﻱ ﺍﺍ ﺍﻱ ﺍ ﺍ In the decree which cannot be reversed nor changed

ﻱ ﺍ ﺍﺍ That You write me amongst those who will go for pilgrimage (hajj) to Your Holy House

، ﺍﻭ ، ﺍﻭ Whose Hajj is approved, whose efforts are appreciated

، ﺍ ﺍ ، ﺍﻭ ﻭ Whose sins are forgiven, whose evil deeds have been pardoned

ﺍﻱﺍﻱ And from what You decree and ordain

ﻳﻱ Let my life be lengthened

ﻱ ، ﻱ And increase my sustenance And…(ask for your needs)

7 ﺍﻟ ﻱ ﻭ ﺇ I seek forgiveness of Allah, my Lord, and I turn (repentant) to Him

8 ﻟ ﺍ ﻳ ﺍﻳ O Allah, condemn those who killed Amirul Mu’mineen (a)
