What is the NDM The mnemonic CIAPOAR can help users to remember the six key elements of the NDM. Recording Decision Making It is important to know that decision makers are accountable for their decisions. In some circumstances it will be necessary to provide a rationale on how you have come to make that decision. The CAD plays an important role within the decision making so a brief rationale on the CAD remarks could assist those that are dealing with the incident. Remember – The more information you have the easier it is to make that decision and recording this on the CAD is essential to a third party dealing with that CAD. Suffolk CCR Training 2018

Threat • Of Violence to any other person • Of Damage or loss to property belonging to another • To the community trust and confidence on policing • Of Public Disorder • No Threat at all – Therefore no Harm or Risk Suffolk CCR Training 2018

Harm If the Threat is carried out, what is the likely level of harm? • Person – Threat to life/Serious Injury/Minimal Injury/No Injury • Property – High value damage/Destruction/Theft/Minimal damage/No damage • Community Trust & Confidence in policing – Reduction/No Impact • Community Cohesion – Potential for Disorder/Minimal or No Impact Suffolk CCR Training 2018
