I am learning to: • Reflect on what kind of person I am- what

I am learning to: • Reflect on what kind of person I am- what are my skills, qualities and personality traits. • Describe objects that are of high importance to me and clearly explain why. • Continue to use adjectives, similes and metaphors and varied punctuation in my writing.

Task 1: • Select three objects from home that are really meaningful to you

Task 1: • Select three objects from home that are really meaningful to you or really sum up who you are as a person. • They could be simple things, like a football top or make up bag, or more serious things like a piece of jewellery or photograph that reminds you of a loved one.

Miss Gaughan’ s Museum • Exhibit 1: Scotty Bear DESCRIPTION: Scotty bear sits upon my fluffy pillows or crisp white duvet. His golden- brown fur is still shiny, as he is only about a year old, and he has a constantly perplexed look upon his furry face. Around his neck you will find a forest green bow with the word ‘Harrods’ emblazoned in gilt lettering.

Exhibit 1: Scotty Bear • When I Look at Scotty I think of: London.

Exhibit 1: Scotty Bear • When I Look at Scotty I think of: London. Of the bustling streets that I have to zigzag through and the skyscrapers that block out the sun like giant blinds. I think of Harrods: the proud shop front lined with those distinctive green canopies under which swarms of people tread each day. I think of tower bridge and those long summer evenings when the sun glints off the murky Thames making it look enchanting, and of the pastel palette of clouds illuminated aurous by the dying rays of the sun. But mostly, I think of the person who gave this lovable bear to me.

Exhibit 1: Scotty Bear • I remember when I received Scotty: on a wild

Exhibit 1: Scotty Bear • I remember when I received Scotty: on a wild and miserable Friday evening in Glasgow. The sun was long gone and no stars peppered the dreary sky. The window wipers of my car chased one another across the windscreen in a dismal attempt to keep the rain at bay. I followed road signs for Glasgow Airport, but my stomach was not filled with the excitement you get before boarding a flight to some exotic location. No, I was on the airport run- a journey I had made six times already this month! I parked, illegally in the drop off zone, and checked my phone to see if he was almost with me… Moments later he appeared at my car window prising his backpack in one hand a carrier bag in the other. Unsentimentally in his distinctive East London accent, he tossed the bag across the gear stick and said, “oh, I got that for you. ”

Exhibit 1: Scotty Bear • Scotty is so important to me because: although Adam

Exhibit 1: Scotty Bear • Scotty is so important to me because: although Adam would be mortified if his friends knew he bought a fluffy teddy bear and despite him trying to downplay the gesture, I knew that he had clearly been thinking about me when we were apart and had been missing me. Now when I look at that small, inexpensive bearespecially on long weeks when I am counting down the days until Friday and that airport run- I remember that he is missing me as well. Although it is at times intolerable to go for weeks at a time without being able to cook together or watch a show on the same TV, I can give Scotty bear a cuddle and know that he is thinking about me as well.
