THE MUSES AND WHAT THEY ARE KNOWN FOR • Calliope is the muse of – epics and ballads. She is the oldest of the muses. • Clio is the muse of- memory and history. • Erato is the muse of- poems and poetry. • Euterpe is the muse of- song and music. • Melpomene • Plyhymnia is the muse of- drama and tragedy. is the muse of- hymns and ballads. • Terpsichore is the muse of- dance. She was also foster-mother of the nieces, The Sirens. • Talia was the muse of- humor and comedy. She was loved by Apollo. • Urania was the muse of- astrology and astronomy.
INSPIRING MUSES The muses were very popular back in the day. They were known for there singing, poetry and many more. They were believed to inspire artists , especially poets, philosophers, and musicians.
A REGULAR DAY FOR THE MUSES During the Muses day, the Muses would go to the throne on Zeus and sing for his greatness. The Muses were the daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne.

NOW TEN INSTEAD OF NINE The Famous philosopher “Plato” gave an ancient Greek poet “ Sappho” the name of “The tenth Muse”. This was a complement and it pleased her greatly to be known as the “tenth Muse”.
