The Motivational Pathway Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs The Maslow model dates back to 1943. Based on five levels of motivation arranged as a hierarchy, it assumes that needs must be satisfied at a lower level before someone can progress to the next. It also states that people will ‘regress’ if a lower level need is no longer met. However, there is little evidence to support this view of personality. The model does not explain important factors influencing expectations that affect people’s motivation. http: //www. pario-innovations. com/pario_products. html
The Motivational Pathway Understanding Core Needs Research relating to Self Determination Theory has identified three core needs that contribute to selfesteem and psychological well-being. These include Competence, Autonomy and ‘Relatedness’ i. e. positive relationships and a sense of connection with others. These core needs are viewed as universal and apply to everyone. They provide a foundation for personal development that replace the lower levels of the Maslow needs hierarchy. http: //www. pario-innovations. com/pario_products. html
The Motivational Pathway Increasing Self Awareness Development of Competence, Autonomy and Relatedness contributes to greater Self Awareness and positive engagement in activities. Other motivational factors, such as the need for Power, Independence, Achievement and Affiliation help unlock Personal Strengths that can be directed in Purposeful Activity. A strong sense of purpose increases psychological well-being, leading to the elusive ‘feel good’ factor! http: //www. pario-innovations. com/pario_products. html
The Motivational Pathway The Maslow Model assumes that few people reach the top level of Self Actualization. In contrast, the Motivational Pathway sets out clear steps that lead to Purposeful Activity. The Pathway builds on a process of development that involves addressing core needs , raising self awareness and gradually unlocking Personal Strengths. ‘Mindfulness’ and Self. Regulation help focus attention on meaningful activities that go beyond the individual , contributing to a real sense of shared purpose. http: //www. pario-innovations. com/pario_products. html
