Who Am I? • 2014 Graduate & Alumni of the Academy for Adult Learning (AAL) program – now called Leadership & Career Studies (L&CS) at Temple University • Currently a matriculated, second semester Freshmen undergraduate student at Temple University • Majoring in Legal Studies, and Minoring in Real Estate and Entrepreneurial Studies • Passion is to serve people with disabilities, and any other minority or marginalized group in our country • “Justice for all means Justice for ALL”
Why did I want to go to Temple University? • To further my educational, personal, and professional growth as a young African-American man who has a disability, and wanted to beat the odds that were stacked against me
How was I introduced to the AAL/Temple? • My mom introduced me to the Academy for Adult Learning (AAL) • I researched it at her recommendation, and fell in love with it • I always wanted to go to college, and never imagined that I’d have the opportunity to attend as a fully participating student.
What are the most interesting subjects that I’ve studied at college? • Human Resource Management (HRM) • Race and the Law • Business Law • Law and American Society • Educational Law • Introduction to Acting (Gen Ed) • AAL Weekly Seminar
What are the most exciting experiences that I’ve had at college thus far? • Internship at Temple’s Campus Safety department • Student Intern at Disability Rights Pennsylvania (DRP) • Former E-Board member of Temple’s Progressive NAACP student organization & Juvenile Justice Chair to the PA State NAACP Board • Deputy Director of Temple’s Student Government’s (TSG) Government Affairs • Commissioner on the Philadelphia Police Advisory Commission (PAC) • Serve on the Board of Directors for the ARC of Philadelphia • Member of the Consumer Advisory Committee at the Institute on Disabilities at Temple University
What kind of support has been the most helpful for me in college? • Tutoring • Typist • Financial Scholarships • AAL Mentor • Good Support System (Family, Friends, Teachers, Administration, etc. )
What do I want to do after finishing college? • Attend Law School, preferably the Beasley Law School at Temple University • CEO of a corporation • Politician • Develop inclusive Real Estate • Civil Rights, Immigration, and Real Estate Attorney
