Jesus Calms the Storm Matthew 8: 23 -27; Mark 4: 35 -31; Luke 8: 22 -25 Details of the miracle: p Jesus and His disciples were crossing the Sea of Galilee along with other little boats. p A windstorm “came down”, waves beat on the boat, and it began to fill with water. p Jesus was in the stern asleep on a pillow. p The disciples, including some experienced sailors, woke Jesus asking, “Do you not care that we are perishing? ” p Jesus arose and rebuked the wind and water. p The wind ceased and there was a great calm. p Jesus asked, “Why are you so fearful? Where is your faith? ” “How is it that you have no faith? ”

He also experienced hunger (Matthew 4: 2), thirst (John 4: 7), weariness (John 4: 6) and sorrow (John 11: 35). p Jesus was God. Only God could control the elements with His word n n He is the Creator and Sustainer (Colossians 1: 15 -17; Psalm 33: 6 -9) He has complete control over the elements of His creation (Psalms 65: 6 -7; 89: 8 -9; 93: 4 -5; 135: 5 -6)

We should be so thankful! (Psalm 107: 22 -31) The words, “Peace be still” calmed the storm. If the winds and the waves obey the Lord, so should we.
