Formal Test Flashcards in the Test pocket are not revised. They wait for the “formal test” by the teacher, one to two weeks later. The teacher then tests to see if the content has moved into long-term memory.

Thins to Remember • Fingers are never pushed into pockets. • Slide flashcards behind those already in the pocket or gently fold down the flap. • Flashcards should always poke out the top – if they do get stuck, slide a ruler in behind to ease them out. • Let your teacher know if you feel your child would benefit from more or less flashcards. • Your child is practicing two things; memory storage and memory retrieval. Retrieval should present a moderate challenge, that’s why every day practice is not recommended. Four to five sessions is sufficient. • It is vital to cultivate a positive “growth mindset” – this process is about long-term memory storage – forgetting and “mistakes” actually HELPS the learning process!!
