Mixed Skills (answers) 3. ‘Yash stared at his father for an age. When he managed to speak, his voice was a hoarse whisper. ’ What does this suggest about the way Yash feels about the mountain being bought? Use evidence in the text to support you’re answer. (Infer) This suggests that Yash is in shock and is worried about the mountain being bought. The fact his voice changes, means his breathing has been affected by what he has heard, and in turn, this has affected the way his voice projects. We know he is in shock and is unhappy about this because in the text he says to his father, ‘You can’t be serious? What about the farm? The mountain is our life. It can’t be sold!’ This shows he is concerned and worried for their lives and for the farm and that is why his voice changes. Point Explanation Evidence Explanation of evidence/link to the question
