Firm Foundation Prayer Eternal God, you are our Rock, you are the firm foundation for everything we build. You give gifts to your people for the good of the church. You equip and train your people to carry out the good works you have prepared for us in advance. As we meet today, we ask that you would provide wisdom, guidance and direction. Remind us that you are our loving ally, you are our fortress, you are our tower of strength and you are our rescuer. Everything we need is found in you. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.

WISDOM Lets explore wisdom from a Christian view. What can we find in the Bible?

Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. .

* Is the story just about building a house on good foundations? I wonder why Jesus told this story?

The Parable of the Wise and the Foolish Builders, (also known as the House on the Rock ), is a parable of Jesus appearing in the Gospel of Matthew ( 7: 24– 27) and Luke ( 6: 46– 49 ). The parable illustrates the importance of building one's life on obedience to the teachings and example of Jesus.

Gospel Connection: In Matthew 7, Jesus teaches us that true wisdom comes from trusting in Him and His word. If we build our lives on the basis of God’s truth then we will be able to persevere when the storms of life come. If our foundation is built on our own worldly desires and wisdom then we will fail when we are tested. Christians believe that Jesus is the only worthy foundation because of his death & resurrection is our only hope to overcome.

Think about the way God wants you to lead your life and the values you can live out in your life every day. Who can share their good ideas?
