The locations in the adverts are usually based on a dirty street outside or its raining. They both help animals, e. g. dogs. Charity comparison Dark colours used when the mood is sad but becomes colourful when its happy. The storyline starts with an animal that’s homeless and ends up being taken to a place where they get treatment and go to a loving home. They raise money for animals. The difference between Dogs Trust and RSPCA is that Dogs Trust mainly focus on dogs where as RSPCA helps all animals. When I watched both of their adverts I felt compelled to donate because I felt so sad for the animals who have been neglected. Both use sad music to manipulate the audiences feelings.
• RSPCA is a welfare charity that introduced a law to protect animals and ensure all animals can live free from suffering. They have been looking out for animals, since 1824. • There was news reports about how they put down 3, 400 animals for ‘non-medical reasons’, for example; lack of space in kennels and catteries. • They also put down animals that can’t be re-homed because they are either disabled or have behavioral issues.
• Dogs trust, also known as the National Canine Defense League, is an animal welfare charity in the United Kingdom which specializes in the well-being of dogs. • They help rehome dogs and show pictures of the dogs with information about them, for example; their name, breed of the dog, gender, age and location of where they are to come pick them up. They also give information about their personality, e. g. https: //www. dogstrust. org. uk/rehoming/
My final chosen charity While looking into different charities I came across one that also helps animals called "Blue Cross. " I looked online and found some charity adverts that have a similar theme to other animal rescue adverts I've come across, for example: colour theme e. g. black, white or grey. They also use sad mellow music to manipulate the audience emotions. They also make the animal in the advert more humane by having the animal talk, which relates back to manipulating the audience feelings. Blue Cross is a charity that helps animals in need of medical or need a new home since 1897. On their website they say they 'help thousands of pets in need every month'. They also show pictures of animals and information about them, for example; One of their charity https: //www. youtube. com/watch? v=t. THONb_SO 7 E

Charity comparison essay • While looking at both adverts of Dogs Trust and Blue Cross, noticed some difference between them, for example; They use different filming techniques and the location in both of the adverts. Dogs trust aim is to help dogs so in their advert they don’t include any animals except a dog, whereas Blue Cross includes many animals, e. g. dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, etc. The locations are different as well, for example; Dogs Trust adverts location is set in what seems to be a kennel and the Blue Cross advert location is set in what looks like a cold dark streets. • The similarities between the two adverts is that they use the technique of emotional manipulation to get a reaction out of the audience, for example; sad or happy music, colour of the environment to set the mood and they personified the animals by having them talk or the lyrics to the song relate to the dog on both adverts. Another thing I noticed is that they both have happy endings for the main ‘character’ because the main animal character finds a loving owner and home. • What I noticed between the two adverts are the locations are shot differently, for example; dogs trust advert switches from indoors to outdoors, but the blue cross advert sticks to open areas, e. g. streets, gas station, brick wall, pub, near an open road, etc. They use jump cuts to switch to different locations, and without making it look random, they film these shots in the same time period. Depending on the location of where the advert has been filmed, it directs towards the audience of where they might live and how they can help them. The filming time is also different, for example, one is set in the day and the other is set at night. I also noticed when the dog in the blue cross charity advert is wandering around the streets and looking at other owners with their dogs, the tones of the colours are brighter, like a light at the end of a dark tunnel. In a way it show to the audience that there is hope for the dog. • The purpose of the blue cross charity advert is to help animals be re-homed and find loving owners, while the purpose of the Dogs trust is to help look after your dog while the owner is away.
