THE LIVER
information The liver separates the nutrients in your food from the waste. it determines which nutrients will go to the body immediately and which ones will stay in storage. The liver also makes a fluid called bile. Bile flows into the small intestine during digestion, bile looks gross but it helps the body absorb fat. The gallbladder stores excess bile from the liver that can later aid in digestion. The pancreas helps by spitting out juices that break up fats, carbohydrates, and proteins.
WHAT DOES THE LIVER DO ? The liver regulates most chemical levels in the blood and excretes a product called "bile, " which helps carry away waste products from the liver. All the blood leaving the stomach and intestines passes through the liver. The liver processes this blood and breaks down the nutrients and drugs into forms that are easier to use for the rest of the body.
INSIDE THE BODY
WERE THE LIVER IS LOCATED The liver is the largest organ in the body. It is located on the right side of the abdomen (to the right of the stomach) behind the lower ribs and below the lungs. The liver performs more than 400 functions each day to keep the body healthy. Some of its major jobs include: converting food into nutrients the body can use (for example, the liver produces bile to help break down fats) storing fats, sugars, iron, and vitamins for later use by the body making the proteins needed for normal blood clotting removing or chemically changing drugs, alcohol, and other substances that may be harmful or toxic to the body NOW THAT YOU KNOW WERE THE LIVER IS NOW AM GOING TO SHOW YOU THE LIVER INSIDE THE BODY P.
