The Lion and the Mouse

Story Simple breakdown Innovation The mouse is hungry and decides to look for food. He finds some berries and climbs on a rock to get them. A small animal who is hungry and goes to find food. When they find food, they have to climb up on a huge rock to reach it. The squirrel woke up from a deep slumber. He is ravenous so he decides to go and find some food. He notices some nuts in a tree high up out of reach. He climbs on a nearby mishappen rock to try and reach them. The rock turns out to be a lion and the lion helps him eat. The mouse offers his service if the lion ever needs it. The lion just laughs. The rock turns out to be a large fearsome animal. This animal helps the small animal and the small animal offers to help the large animal if it ever gets in trouble. The squirrel is reaching as high as he can when suddenly the ground moves. It turns out the oddly shaped rock is a bear! The squirrel trembles in shock and fear. The bear decides to help him get his food, then the squirrel offers to help him if the bear ever gets in trouble. The lion gets trapped in the vines and roars for help. He is worried hunters might get him. The large animal gets trapped and screams for help The bear laughs at the mouse. A few days later the bear gets stuck in a bear trap. The mouse nibbles him free and saves his life The small animal saves his life. He roars in pain and the squirrel knaws him free, breaking the horrible trap. The lion and mouse both learn a valuable lesson and moral. The animals both learn a valuable lesson and moral. The bear thanks the squirrel and they become firm friends.
The Squirrel and the Bear. One bright spring morning, as the sun was peeking over the hills, a squirrel stretched whilst yawning. “What was that? ” he thought, confused hearing a rumbling noise. “There it is again!” Finally, the squirrel worked out what was going on and felt the pain in his empty stomach. He mumbled to himself rather embarrassed, “I guess it’s time to go and find some food. ” So off he went to the forest floor, clambering down the large fir tree he had been hibernating in. When he got down there, he smelt something. It smelt delicious. He wanted it. He had to have it. Off he scampered enthusiastically to find this marvelous smell. He got closer and closer with the smell getting stronger and stronger. Suddenly he saw it! The acorns were high up in the oak tree, clutching to a branch that was dangling over a large, oddly-shaped, brown rock. Climbing as high as he could and reaching as far as possible the squirrel was so focused that he didn’t notice the rock moving….
Success criteria: -Start with a fronted adverbial. - Speech to move your story on (maybe the small animal is talking to itself about how hungry it is) - Include the 3 main types of sentence. - Adjectives and adverbs for description. - Similes and metaphors. - Paragraphs (time, speaker, place or idea)
