Ben Lundy Timeline • 1789: Born • 1808: Saddle's School - First exposure to slavery • 1815: Marries Esther Lewis : Opens own saddle shop : Founded The Union Human Society • 1817: Writer for The Philanthropist : Writing for various other papers • 1819: Founded The Genious of Universal Emancipation • 1823: Editor publications for Human Protecting Society
Ben Lundy Timeline, cont’d. • 1824: Founded Maryland Anti-Slavery Society • 1828: Lecturing tour against slavery in North • 1835: Founded The National Enquirer and Constitutional Advocate of Universal Liberty • 1836: Publishes his phamplet The War in Texas • 1839: Dies in Lowell, Ill. - America loses one of its strongest supporters against a non-violent end to slavery. His works influenced others such that slavery was morally and politically evil.
