History The Juno Awards date back to 1970. It was originally started by Stan

History The Juno Awards date back to 1970. It was originally started by Stan Klees and Walt Grealis, and at that time it was called the Gold leaf Awards. The next year it was renamed the Juno Awards in honor of Pierre Juneau. The spelling was changed when it was discovered that a Greek goddess was also named Juno, but it was spelt differently.

History They were also responsible for implementation of the Canadian Content Regulations in 1971.

The show was based in Toronto from 1975 – 1994, and then transformed into a traveling show visiting cities all over Canada including: St. John’s Halifax Edmonton Just to name a few

Nomination Process: • The nominating process takes place over 1314 month period. • In order to be nominated you have to have live in Canada over the past six months of the nominating period and are Canadian either by birth, passport or immigration statues. • The only exception is with the International Album of the Year.
