Resource List Interoperability • IMS have initiated a project team to describe XML schemas

Resource List Interoperability • IMS have initiated a project team to describe XML schemas for describing academic resources • Once defined in XML resource instance documents are easily parsed using XPath expressions • SOAP can be used to wrap distributed messages between an Open. URL Resolver and Digital Object Repositories to find the Appropriate Copy of a resource. • Paratools regular expressions could be used to populate Resource XML documents that comply to IMS schema definitions, (see Para. Tools demonstration).

Future goals • • • Investigate how Para. Tools could be used to populate Resource XML instance documents that conform to new IMS standards Build more sophisticated SOAP messaging between Open. URL Resolver and Digital Object Repositories, according to IMS DRI standards i. e. XQuery and SOAP Investigate how Shibboleth could be used to authenticate user access Investigate how real time ‘payment’ could be built into architecture, (maybe exchange of credits or acknowledgement). Integrate novel Semantic Web ideas e. g. digital repository metadata Functional Components of the visualisation Semantic Web
