Metadata planes An Open. URL Resolver allows users access to an extended service plane. Resolution of the links they require is configured according to the context in which the service is initiated, (see last slide). See SFX demonstration
Resource List Interoperability • IMS have initiated a project team to describe XML schemas for describing academic resources • Once defined in XML resource instance documents are easily parsed using XPath expressions • SOAP can be used to wrap distributed messages between an Open. URL Resolver and Digital Object Repositories to find the Appropriate Copy of a resource. • Paratools regular expressions could be used to populate Resource XML documents that comply to IMS schema definitions, (see Para. Tools demonstration).
