Listen to the all of the Youtube reading of Chapter 3 Today I would like you to pretend you are the Iron Man. Please write a diary entry about your first day in the scrap yard. Consider these questions: Why have you not written un your diary for such a long time? Where have you been? Who approached you? Where did they lead you? How is the scrap yard? Do you like it? Why? Describe your new home.

I have written the first paragraph for you. . Wednesday 13 th May 1956 Dear diary, I guess you are wondering why I have not written in such a LONG time. . . well let me tell you! I was trapped! Tricked! Buried in a deep, steep hole to be trapped forever. It was horrendous and I was weak with the hunger. I thought I would rust away into nothing. But the, one day, I caught the whiff of a delicious iron kettle. I could hear the water bubbling against the delicious sides and I just knew I had to have it. I gathered all my strength and pushed up, up until at last the sun was shining in my eyes.
