Ryszard Bugajski (b. 1943) • Born in Warsaw. • Studied philosophy at Warsaw University. • Graduated from the Łodz Film School. • Directed over 20 films and TV productions. • Scriptwriter; writer. • “The Bugajski effect”: lost work, was forced to emigrate in 1985.
THE INTERROGATION (1982) • Starring: Krystyna Janda (best actress at the Cannes, 1989), Adam Ferency, Janusz Gajos. • Made right before the introduction of Martial Law. • Condemned as “anti-Socialist, ” nearly burned; banned and shelved. • Distributed illegally on video till 1989.
