i. NANO mission: • Education: New Master program • i. NANO graduate school (www. inanoschool. dk) • Research within nanoscience • Innovation, Technology transfer to Industry From Nanoscience to Nanotechnology • International collaborations
Interdisciplinary • Nanoscience is an interdisciplinary research area involving disciplines such as physics, chemistry, molecular biology, medicine and materials science. • To do research in before mentioned disciplines it is necessary to be interdisciplinary. • In nanoscience the boundaries between the classical disciplines are wiped out. • Interdisciplinary skills are increasingly demanding skills requested by the industry and research community.
i. NANO research areas • Functional Nano-materials – Nanocoatings, tribological coatings, nano-composits, polymers, nano-fibers, atomic-scale design of materials. • Nano-Energy-materials – Catalysis, energy storage, solar cells, thermoelectric-materials • Nano. Medicine – Drug delivery and design, diagnostics, biocompatible materials • Self-assembled molecular nano-structures – DNA nanostructures, 2 D molecular surface structures • Nano. Food – Biosensors, anti-biofouling surfaces, functional food, food safety • Nano-photonics and nano-electronics – Semiconductor nanocrystals
