WHO ARE WE II? • The Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM 3) is a major UK engineering institution • Its activities encompass the whole materials cycle, from exploration and extraction, through characterisation, processing, forming, finishing and application, to product recycling and land reuse. • It exists to promote and develop all aspects of materials science and engineering, geology, mining and associated technologies, • Mineral and petroleum engineering and extraction metallurgy, as a leading authority in the worldwide materials and mining community.

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENT FOR CEng • An accredited Bachelors degree with honours in engineering or technology, plus either an appropriate Masters degree accredited by a professional engineering institution, or appropriate further learning to Masters level • or an accredited integrated MEng degree • For degrees started in 1999 or later
ACADEMIC REQUIREMENT FOR IEng • An accredited Bachelors or honours degree in engineering or technology • or a Higher National Certificate or Diploma or a Foundation Degree in engineering or technology, plus appropriate further learning to degree level • or an NVQ 4 or SVQ 4 which has been approved for the purpose by a licensed engineering institution • For degrees started in 1999 or later
