Q 1) Scene is built up using a combination of the view out of the wheelhouse window and the ARPA display. Your answer would be selected from the dashboard.

Q 2) This scene is based on a head on encounter where the other vessel is opening to port.

Q 3) Using the information presented from the ARPA and from out of the window, you are presented with a situation where you are obliged to give way to one vessel but stand on for the other.

Q 4) Many scenarios are built around multi ship encounters. In this case the vessel 1 point on your port bow is restricted by the vessel on her starboard side.

Q 5) An example where multiple choice answers are used.

Q 6) An example of a question where a free text answer is typed in.

Q 7) A further example where multiple choice is most appropriate.

Q 8) A question built up by using simulation from the wheelhouse window and proper comprehension of the information in the passage plan and the chart.

Q 9) Question combination using ARPA display and the information presented on the chart.

Q 10) Situational awareness. Is the vessel really where the positions on the chart show and can the officer correctly recognise this? (he must also not forget to deal with the traffic).
