BACKGROUND The primary objectives of the ICT projects include: • Improving the internal and external communications in the University • Developing an efficient staff and student information management system • Establishing a robust ICT architecture to serve as a structural backbone for the present and future needs of the University. • Improving the level of IT literacy of staff and students. Imperatives The following imperatives, which were derived from our assessment, are important in order to be able to achieve and sustain the mission and vision of the University: • Re-brand the image of the University through the modernisation and reorientation of the Institution • Improve Internal and External Communication • Improve Learning Environment/ Teaching & Research Aids • Improve Level of Computer Literacy amongst Staff and Students • Improve Staff Productivity • Establish an Efficient and Effective Student/Staff Information Management System
• Establish a sustainable ICT facility through the introduction of some commercially viable ventures such as Internet Service Provider (ISP) Services • Identify and establish various Funding Alternatives • Establish a Distance Learning Facility • Establish a Distance Admission Process foreign students • Establish a structured ICT Organisation • Develop a robust ICT Architecture that will support current and future ICT needs of the University of Ibadan
