Motivation & objectives Reduce effort duplication Homogenise the solutions deployed across the accelerator complex. Reduce the number of specific applications needed by providing high-level services. Reduce maintenance cost Suppress remaining 30+ X-Motif applications Renovate & redefine some (obscure) PS specific parts. Improve Controls system performance Tackle the performance, scalability and reliability problems experienced in the PS complex. Scope All accelerators except LHC. SPS only for some components (Timing) Most of the CO high-level software components Generic/specific applications General services (control, acquisition and configuration) Data model and data access Timing (aiming at a complete integration) Some low-level components (to ensure vertical coherency) FESA framework services and class guidelines CMW services 03 -12 -2008 The In.
