The impact of technology on sports

Critical Thinking Question One • “How has technology impacted athletes? ” • Technology has made an huge impact on athletes. Athletes across different sports are bigger, faster, stronger. Today’s athletes are training better and are producing better than the athletes that has preceded them.

Critical Thinking Question Two • “Would you consider this impact to be positive or negative? Why? ” • I would consider this impact to be positive because technology is a useful resource that allows athletes to track their data more effectively and increase their productivity.

Critical Thinking Question Three • “What evidence have you found that suggest this impact? ” • Athletes are able to track their nutrition much more effectively because this type of information is readily available to them. In the past, there was not an emphasis placed on this type of information. In the past, Basketball players and baseball players use to travel via tour buses which made for long road trips. Now basketball players and baseball players travel via airplanes which means that a 8 hour bus ride is now a 2. 5 hour flight. These athletes have the ability to get much more rest than those of the past.

Critical Thinking Question Four • “If era’s were switched, how do you think the athletes would fair? ” • I believe that if the best athletes were switched, I believe that people would begin to realize how great some of the athletes from the past truly were. These athletes would still be considered as some of the best athletes in the World.

Critical Thinking Question Five • “Based on the information you have gathered, do you predict athletes production will increase or decrease? Why? ” • Athletes production will increase because technology will continue to get better! For example, in the 1950’s, football was played wearing leather helmets. Now football is played with the most cutting edge technology that helps protects these athletes from head trauma and decrease the risk of injury.
