Chapter 22 Summary • Katniss and Peeta are in the cave. Peeta has made a remarkable recovery due to the medicine. Now it is Peeta who’s caring for Katniss’s wounded forehead. The two of them spend the day resting and talking. They are hungry and the rain continues to make it impossible for Katniss to go hunting. Katniss knows that in order to get food from Haymitch they must play up their romance for the audience. The next day, it continues to rain. With no chance of hunting, they are counting on Haymitch for food. Peeta seems earnest as he confesses his feelings for Katniss- that he has loved her since the first day of school and heard her sing. She reciprocates his feelings enough to earn them a silver parachute full of foodincluding her favorite, lamb stew.
