THE HUMAN BODY CORPORATION PRESENTS BODY RIDES UNLTD
THE HUMAN BODY CORPORATION PRESENTS: BODY RIDES UNLTD. Your tour guide for the day: Danielle Lilley
Line forms here for a ride with the digestive system. To start we are going to explore the digestive system. Digestion involves the movement of food through the body's alimentary canal, so nutrients can be absorbed. Lets walk into the mouth where digestion begins. Heres a map of our trip….
Rules for the ride… Please board the tongue and step onto the food , voluntary swallow will help us get down. Hold on tight it can get slippery due to all the saliva the mouth produces. Duck your head so you don’t bump it on the uvula on the way down, we don’t get to get thrown back up ! Through the throat now…. Don’t the esophagus we go ! Be sure to hold onto your seats the ride through the esophagus can get bumpy, due to peristalsis. That is the contracting of the esophagus to move us down into the stomach. Please keep all hands inside the boat, we are surrounded by the muscular wall in the stomach, which included gastric pits. Don’t play in the liquid we are floating in it is the hydrochloric acid ! A long ride through the large and small intestine, which could take a while. Get ready it’s a tight ride out the anus! Stay tuned for a lesson on the reproductive system!
Reproductive blvd. Female… The female reproductive system is designed to carry out many functions. Male…. The organs of the male reproductive system are specialized for the following functions: It makes the female egg cells necessary for reproduction, called the ova. The system is designed to bring the ova to the site of fertilization. To let out sperm within the female reproductive tract To produce and secrete male sex hormones Goodies…. . Penis — The penis is the male organ for sexual intercourse. Scrotum — The scrotum is the loose pouch-like sac of skin that hangs behind the penis. It contains the testicles (also called testes), as well as many nerves and blood vessels. Testicles (testes) — The testes are oval organs about the size of large olives that lie in the scrotum, secured at either end by a structure called the spermatic cord. Most men have two testes. Epididymis — The epididymis is a long, coiled tube that rests on the backside of each testicle. It functions in the transport and storage of the sperm cells that are produced in the testes. Conception, the fertilization of an egg by a sperm, normally occurs in the fallopian tubes. After conception, the uterus offers a safe , environment for a baby. SOME OF THE GOODIES INCLUDED ……………… Vagina: The vagina is a canal that joins the cervix (the lower part of uterus) to the outside of the body. It also is known as the birth canal. Uterus (womb): The uterus is a hollow, pearshaped organ that is the home to a developing fetus Ovaries: The ovaries are small, oval-shaped glands that are located on either side of the uterus. The ovaries produce eggs and hormones. Fallopian tubes: These are narrow tubes that are attached to the upper part of the uterus and serve as tunnels for the ova (egg cells) to travel from the ovaries to the uterus To produce, maintain and transport sperm (the male reproductive cells) and protective fluid (semen)
Skeletal street… The main purpose of the skeleton is to provide us with a frame, kina of like a support system for our flesh. without our skeletons we would be flat blobs. it also protects our internal organs. Like our ribcage protects our heart, verteabrae and lungs. Our skulls protect our brain as well. bone has an outer layer of hard or compact bone, which is very strong. Inside the bone is spongy and flexible. Then inside the middle is the bone marrow Calcium is also needed to keep bones strong, so make sure you drink a lot of milk!
Continued… Did you know? -Your teeth are also considered part of your skeletal system but they are not counted as bones. Your teeth are made of enamel and dentin. Enamel is the strongest substance in your body
Circulatory circus CIRCULATORY-Welcome to the circulatory circus. The first act will tell you about how the circulatory circus works. The heart, the lungs, and the blood vessels work together to form the circulatory system.
Continued…. Be Shure to attend all 3 shows today. (The body's circulatory system really has three distinct parts) pulmonary circulation, coronary circulation, and systemic circulation. Lungs are pulmonary and the heart is coronary. Blood moves from the heart, brings oxygen and nutrients to every part of the body. The tubes that carry blood away from your heart are called arteries. Finally, blood removes the wastes from the body.
Integumentary lane. . Now we will take a walk down integumentary lane. The skin does us a number of great things. The integumentary system includes the skin and the skin derivatives hair, nails, and glands. The integument is the body’s largest organ. It is actually 15 % of our body weight.
Continued …. • Vitamin D- production-the skin makes vitamin D • Protection – The sin acts as a physical barrier. • Absorption & secretion – The skin is involved in the absorption of water and excretion of water and sweat. • Wound healing - When a minor burn or abrasion occurs basal cells of the epidermis break away from the basement membrane and migrate across the wound. • The skin is made up of two layers, the dermis and the epidermis. The Epidermis is the thinner more superficial layer of the skin. And the dermis is the deeper, thicker layer composed of connective tissue, blood vessels, nerves, glands and hair follicles.
Nervous system… Nervous system- The objective of the nervous system is to send electrical signals through the body. The nervous system directs behavior and movement along with the endocrine system, controls thing like digestion and circulation. The organs included in this system are Brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves.
Continued…. Here is a map of the nervous system…
