The book of Moses ‘On that day they read from the Book of Moses in the hearing of the people. And in it was found written that no Ammonite or Moabite should ever enter the assembly of God, for they did not meet the people of Israel with bread and water, but hired Balaam against them to curse them—yet our God turned the curse into a blessing. ’ (Neh 13: 1 -2) BOOK OF MOSES ‘No Ammonite or Moabite may enter the assembly of the LORD. Even to the tenth generation, none of them may enter the assembly of the LORD forever, because they did not meet you with bread and with water on the way, when you came out of Egypt, and because they hired against you Balaam the son of Beor from Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse you. Malachi and Nehemiah Malachi had urged the people to ‘bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse’ (3: 10) This is done upon Nehemiah’s return ‘then brought all Judah the tithe…unto the treasuries’ (13: 12) NEHEMIAH & MALACHI SESSION 6

Ammonite or Moabite ‘On that day they read from the Book of Moses in the hearing of the people. Tobiah was an Ammonite (2: 10) Tobiah ‘related’ to Eliashib (13: 4) Sanballat was a Horonite, possibly a Moabite (2: 10 cf. Isa 15: 5, Neh 13: 23) Son in law to Sanballat (13: 28) AMMON + MOAB SESSION 6
