RESEARCH AND GENERATE IDEAS • Which materials are least expensive? • Where can I find small amounts of these materials? • Which materials do I have easy access to? • Check R-Values for different insulation options. • Does the highest R-Value mean it’s the best choice?

IDENTIFY CRITERIA AND CONSTRAINTS House is made of cardboard “walls” with renewable insulation between the two layers of cardboard. Insulation must be ½” thick around the outside of the house. House can be one or two rooms. One room homes will use 4 bulbs for the heat source. Two room homes will use 8 bulbs for their heat source. Home dimensions are 9”x 5” (apply ½” insulation after dimensions) for 1 room and 14”x 5” (apply ½” insulation after dimensions) for 2 room. Two room mini-homes will be separated with a 2”x 1. 5” door. Insulation will be between the

REFLECTION… Though our house was well built, and marshmallows had a high R Value, the problem was that our choice of marshmallows did not work because of extra air space. The once fluffy marshmallows after a week had dried up and left mostly airspace, so the marshmallows only took up about half of the area, If the project would have been done earlier and the marshmallows would have retained heat much better as the surface are would have been far greater.
