The history of the internet By: Robert Oliveira
In the beginning • The internet was 1 st and foremost the internet did not go public when it was 1 st launched. In fact the only people who had access to it were the military. • Why? Well this was due to the fact that now information travel is instantaneous it wasn’t back then and thus this was a huge chance for A huge modernization of the battle front. • When the internet 1 st went public in 1995 it cost a fortune and you could have been waiting for up to 10 munities for a page to load. • But still with little to no idea of what the future held it spread fast and in a while fiber optic cables were lay down.
In the beginning cont • Fiber optic cables are the single largest information carrying source on the planet. They can transport a massive 10 trillion bits. • This has contributed to other things as well such as the wide spread domination of the internet to other parts of the world and making sharing and networking possible. For people who could never have gotten to their nearest town.
In the beginning cont • In today’s lifestyle we consider it just a normal part of life, and with us now being able to access wireless data we no longer have to… look up that book in the library, borrow that documentary or listen to the news when it’s on.
Times and evolution • Now in the modern world we start to see the internet being used to it’s full capacity and processing power being increased. • All this means for the everyday consumer is that it is getting faster, bigger and technologically advanced. How? Well a variety of resources are becoming available to many other people and that leads to other problems such as privacy, and how far is too far. • During the time of such things as the wire less era and so on we are seeing networking becoming more and more of a normal part of society. With such things as Bluetooth, wireless cards and booster ports.
Gadgets and gizmos • This is where hard ware and drivers come into it. A range of things are available for the internet but we’ll focus on the main ones such as booster ports, wireless ports and Bluetooth. • Bluetooth is the gadget that most people use to send songs to their friends wirelessly. It is as fast as your processor and can run on a spectrum system (a 2. 4 gigahertz frequency range).
Gadgets and gizmos cont • It runs on most of the mobile towers you see around you and it can sure transport a fair stream of data. Cause though you don’t realize it the thing that takes the most time is actually the fact that your file is compressed before it is sent and files are extracted as you receive it.
Gadgets and gizmos cont • Wireless are prebuilt or self installed kits which allow net working and internet connection eliminating the need for a modem or a phone line. • This allows the user to take a laptop anywhere with them ( as long as there in a signal range of which they can receive) and access all of the wired features.
Gadgets and gizmos cont • Today these have been used as a programmed means of wireless networking in which allows the components to run on a 2. 4 gigahertz frequency band that via a series of on off pulses (digital communication) can send and receive a data file allowing you to access the internet and other features.
Gadgets and gizmos cont • Booster ports are the most common way of increasing their your internet speed or range. They can be accessed by wired or wireless range. • The one that boosts your range works by boosting the output signal of your computer or by boosting the sensor range allowing you a greater access range. • The one that boosts your speed will either compress the file as Bluetooth dose or give you a little extra processing power to improve your download rate. The are digital input and output and retain your internet security settings.
