The Helioseismic & Magnetic Imager Magnetic Field Data Products J. Wiegelmann And The Rest of the HMI Team Stanford, HAO, CORA, JPL, GSFC, MPS ABSTRACT The Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager (HMI) on NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) routinely produces a wide variety of magnetic field data products including 45 -second line-of sight magnetograms, 12 minute vector field times series in HMI Active Region Patches (HARPs), synoptic maps and synchronic frames, model calculations of the coronal field and solar wind, and near-real-time parameters for space weather. Other products, such as surface flow maps, can be produced on demand or on request. We present examples of data products collected during the first year of operations and compare some of these with measurements from other observatories, including the now-dormant MDI. LWS 1 May 2011 HMI Space Weather and Quick-Look Browsing Products Quick-look data are available within a few minutes of observation. A more complete set of definitive science data products is offered about a day later and comes in three types. ‘’Pipeline products, ’’ such as full disk vector magnetograms, will be computed for all data on an appropriate cadence. A larger menu of ‘’On Demand’’ products, such as Non-Linear Force Free Field snapshots of an evolving active region, will be produced whenever a user wants them. Less commonly needed ‘’On Request’’ products that require significant project resources, such as a high resolution MHD simulation of the global corona, will be created subject to availability of resources. Further information can be found at the SDO Joint Science Operations Center web page, jsoc. stanford. edu Generally HMI space weather and quick-look browsing products are computed in near real time from quick look SDO data. They may be used for space weather forecasting or real time monitoring and display. They should not be used for scientific analysis, except perhaps to compare the quality of preliminary and definitive products. HMI space weather and quick-look products will be coordinated with the Heliophysics Events Knowledge Base. These data products will complement the AIA Quick Look Browse Products.
