Romeo and Juliet of the Appalachians • In 1880, Johnse Hatfield, son of Devil Anse, ran off with Roseanna Mc. Coy at an Election Day picnic • This outraged Randolph “Ran’l” Mc. Coy, Roseanna’s father. • The feud escalated.
